Trek Together for Food Pantry Network of Licking County

What a week full of crazy headlines. “Midwest Sees Temperatures Colder than Antarctica.” “Chicago So Cold, The Railways Are Being Set On Fire.” “Parts of Midwest Could Be Colder Than Mars.” You guys… I don’t think I’m exaggerating even a little bit when I say that this cold is extreme. And as I sit here trying to thaw out my fingers and my writer’s block, I am reminded that I came in from the cold last night, and I had the opportunity to choose from a multitude of dinner options.

I’m thinking about how lucky I am to have these options, and I’m thinking about our Trek Together event benefiting the Food Pantry TONIGHT. The Food Pantry Network of Licking County distributed over 4.4 million pounds of food to residents of Licking County in 2018. The goal of the Food Pantry Network of Licking County is to ensure that no family in Licking County goes hungry. The FPN estimates that it served over 300,000 individuals last year, and the need keeps growing.

Our Trek Together event tonight is an easy way for you to help out. $1 from EVERY pint that we sell between 5pm and 9pm will go directly back to the Food Pantry Network of Licking County. We’re also hosting a canned food drive, so take a look in your pantry for those items that could be helpful.

As I sit here and ponder the countless times that I don’t even think twice about offering our growing boys seconds, (or even dinner alternatives when our main course is not to their liking) I am grateful. There are many in this community that don’t have ANY options, and they wonder where the next meal will come from. My heart hurts for them, even more so in this weather. John and I have talked many times on this blog about our vision for Trek – to be family friendly gathering space, producing exceptional beer and building and supporting our community. These Trek Together events are that mission in action.

Let’s make this event the BEST Trek Together yet. Bring some friends and do good for our community. Come out tonight, brave the cold, and join our journey. We’re making the world better one beer at a time. Cheers friends, we’ll see you tonight from across the bar. It’s #WorthTheTrek.
