First Anniversary Party!!!

Hey guys! Happy Thursday!!! Geesh it’s been an exciting month… so much going on, and I feel like we’re speeding up. John and I have a meeting every Monday and the recent focus has been discussing our first anniversary party! Full disclosure, it’s been a little more than a year since we’ve opened. Since we had the LONGEST soft open in the world, it’s hard to start from that time. We’re counting from our official grand open, last Black Friday. We plan to have a Black Friday party every year because honestly, it’s a great day to come out and […]

What’s NEW at Trek

Hi Guys! Happy Thursday!!! The weather has finally decided to cooperate with the calendar and I think it’s finally Fall now. Changes in weather always make me think of new and exciting things, a fresh start for a new season. We’ve also got so many NEW and fresh things happening at Trek that I want to take a moment to catch you up on everything. We’ve got two new brews on tap and they are both AWESOME. SMaSH: Hunger is a New Zealand Pale Ale. This hazy beer is brewed with Maris Otter malt and Pacifica hops from New Zealand. […]

Third Place Evolution

Okay guys, so it’s one of those weeks where I’ve got no clear direction on where to take the blog. I feel like if you read this blog, you’re familiar with my honesty, and we’re now at a point where I can tell you that sometimes I know EXACTLY what I’m going to say and the blog pretty much writes itself, and sometimes (like tonight) I have to rattle the idea around in my brain for awhile before it comes out in the blog. John and I have been reading the news lately and it seems that there are stores […]

Special Event Room

Hey guys! Happy Happy Thursday! Though we’re just now getting a little bit of a break in the heat, it’s suddenly almost October. Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. As we inch closer to the holiday season we wanted to spend a quick moment highlighting our special events room. One of the things that drew us to the property at 1486 Granville Rd was the fact that it had an amazing room that we could designate as a room for special events. There aren’t a whole lot of venues in our corner of the world that […]

Qualified

Do you ever have those moments where you stop and think, “How the hell am I qualified to do this?” The first time I can remember this happening to John and I is when we got into the car to leave the hospital with our oldest… and I can vividly remember thinking, “We have NO IDEA what we’re doing, why are they letting us leave with a tiny human that we have to keep alive?” As many of you know, parenting has many of these such moments…and (I can now tell you with certainty), so does owning a business. In […]

Football at Trek

Hey friends! Happy happy Thursday! Although the weather hasn’t completely cooperated yet, fall is upon us. For most of us, that means getting back into weekly routines and schedules and finding ways to sneak in some good R&R. Most importantly (to John at least) it also means football is back. If you haven’t heard yet, we’re doing a Football Food Drive at Trek. Every single Buckeyes game this season, we’re collecting canned food for the Licking County Food Pantry Network. The Licking County FPN has lost a lot of funding this year due to a major corporate sponsor’s restructuring. At […]

Weekend happenings!

Hey everyone! Just a short and sweet post today. It’s my birthday week, the first week of new classes at the preschool, a holiday, and well, I’m just running a tad bit behind schedule (Anyone else think starting the week on Tuesday is HARD?). The rest of this week is full of awesomeness though, and I want to let you know the details.  Tonight, please join me at our Trek Together for Hospice. It’s my birthday and I want to spend it with you! You’re also helping me keep a 17 year promise to give back to an organization that […]

Trek Together: Hospice of Central Ohio

Since we’ve been in the storytelling mode on this blog for a little while now, I’m going to share with you a very personal story. It’s a story about what brought me to Granville. It’s a story that has very much shaped the person that I am today.  It is not a short story though, so maybe save this post for when you’ve got a moment. I grew up in one of those really lucky situations. I had parents that loved each other and adored my brother and I. I spent most of my youth in a small town just […]

Weekly Events

I’m very much a creature of routine. The teacher in me thrives on having a set schedule. I’m a planner by nature, and my whole world just feels better when I feel like I know what to expect. Did you know that we have some events at Trek that happen EVERY SINGLE WEEK? It makes my routine-loving heart happy. You don’t have to guess when these things will happen, because, they happen every single week. If it’s Wednesday it’s going to be Trivia Night, and if it’s Thursday it’s Trek Together night.  Trivia night is absolutely the most fun you […]

Big Beer, Big Deal

Last week there was a big commotion in the Ohio Craft beer world. One of the fastest growing craft breweries in America, Platform Brewing, got bought out by AB-InBev. Okay, so what’s the big deal? Why do we care? The short answer is, lots of reasons.  When Big Beer (brands like AB-InBev, Miller Coors, etc.) makes acquisitions of craft brands, there is a disturbance in the force. Craft brewers are defined as three things: small, independent, and traditional. Small is defined as brewing less than 6 million barrels of beer a year. Independent is defined as less than 25% of the […]
