What’s In Our Fermenters June 2018
Hey there friends! What a week it’s been! Suddenly, it’s Thursday again and it’s time for me to give you an update on our beer situation at Trek!
First, I want to talk to you about our NEW BEER RELEASE happening TOMORROW! Though it’s technically no longer in our fermenters, John just kegged it today so we’re counting it. Our Coffee Cream Ale is hitting the taps for the first time TOMORROW at 3pm. This beer officially combines the two best beverages in the world to bring you something that is so refreshing you can’t get enough. We fermented our delicious cream ale recipe with some perfectly roasted beans from The Coffee Shack Coffee Roasters. It’s light in color and light and crisp in mouthfeel. The aroma is that perfect fresh brewed coffee smell. And then, it tastes like an iced coffee to me. It’s got a little sweetness, and that coffee roastiness, but it finishes crisp and light like our cream ale. It’s wholly unexpected and incredibly delicious. You won’t want to miss out on this beer!
All the fermenters are full at Trek and we’re running around the clock to keep up with beer production. John brewed on Monday and he’s brewing again today. We’re still on that 1bbl system for right now, but the 15bbl is getting closer every day. Currently in our fermenters we’ve got batches of Pale Ale, two batches of IPA, Cream Ale, and Vanilla Stout. Today he’ll be brewing Red Ale. We love all these styles, and you all seem to be loving them too.
We’re often asked what our best seller is, and at this point the answer to that is our Cream Ale. A lot of beer aficionados are surprised by that answer, and I think that there are actually several reasons contributing to this fact. The Cream Ale is very approachable. We like to call it our “gateway craft beer”. If you’re used to drinking a domestic light beer, then the Cream Ale isn’t too “out-there.” It’s also interesting to note that these lighter beers are gaining popularity amongst serious craft beer drinkers. In the most recent edition of the Brewers Association magazine, they called it out as the “next big trend of craft beer.” There is really just something to be said about an easy-drinking crisp and refreshing beer. Especially in the summertime. We’re also excited that the Cream Ale is a perfect base for experimentation, like the Coffee Cream. Both the regular version and the Coffee Cream will be on tap this weekend. Have some fun and try them side by side.
It’s not too late to get your Fireworks For Good Party ticket! They cost $15 and include a $5 donation from every ticket toward #TheHouseThatBeerBuilt (our collaboration with Mid Ohio’s Habitat for Humanity), your first drink at Trek, and admission to the party and fireworks viewing. It’s going to be SO fun. Children 18 and under are free with purchase of adult ticket. Come watch the OSU Newark Fireworks in an awesome location with some friends and some great craft beers. Moe’s Bar B Que will be there with food for purchase for anyone hungry!
We’ve got a great weekend planned at Trek. We’re stamping your #cbusaletrail passports all weekend. On Friday we’ll be tapping that coffee cream ale, and Mai Chau will be outside for dinner from 5pm-9pm. We’re open 3pm-10pm. Saturday we’re going to have an awesome day, we’re open noon till 10pm. Two Cheezy Guys will be outside serving starting at 3pm. Bring in some friends! We can’t wait to see you!
Cheers friends!
