Connecting with Craft
Beer has been a social thing since it first came into existence. I’ll wager that the first person to discover beer immediately brought a few of his buddies over to test it out. Beer is just one of those things that is made better by sharing it with others. Now, don’t get me wrong, we’re not going to judge you for coming in and sitting at the bar alone… sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a pint in silence. And, these days, even if you’re at the bar alone, it doesn’t mean you’re not sharing that experience. In fact, there are a surprising number of ways to connect with craft beer outside of just drinking beers at the brewery. I want to spend some time showing you just a few of your amazing options to connect with Trek.
Of course most of you know that we’re on social media. I do most of my posting on Facebook, however we’ve got a presence on Instagram and Twitter. We’d love to interact with you on whatever social media platform you use, so reach out!
Additionally, Trek Brewing is an Untappd Verified Venue. Untappd is best described as “beer social media”. Untappd is a free app that is available on iTunes and in the Play store. When you create an account, you’re able to rate the beers you are drinking, check into beers, earn badges, keep your own beer portfolio, and interact with breweries and other beer drinkers. If you use Untappd while at Trek, you’ll see your check in live on our menu board. You can also use Untappd to research beers before you go to a brewery, or, if you’re like me, when you’re in the grocery store and you can’t decide between two different six packs. Brewers enter the beers into the site, along with all of the pertinent info about them, and then the public rates them. It’s an amazingly useful app, and you should probably add it to your phone pronto.
While we’re talking about awesome apps, if you live in Ohio you need to know about the Ohio On Tap app. This one is truly amazing. Once you’re logged into the app, you’ll be able to receive a digital passport stamp (and earn prizes!). You can check out what breweries are nearby, see what’s on tap, check out local brewery events, take photos, get beer recommendations, and even create your own pub crawl. This app allows you to keep track of your favorite beers, and start a wish list for ones you’d like to try. We’re psyched to be a part of it, and you should be a part of it too!
Another way to connect with the craft community is through the Columbus Ale Trail. Volume 4 starts THIS WEEKEND and it’s bigger and better than ever. This year’s trail has 46 breweries, and guess what guys? We’re on it! You can pick up your new trail book at Trek this weekend and get your passport stamped! Completion of the ale trail gets you bragging rights, free swag, and weekends full of awesome brewery adventures. You know you want to be a part of it, so get started this weekend!
This weekend is going to be awesome. We’ve got Hogg Head’s Blue Smoke BBQ starting the weekend off right, 3pm Friday till 10pm. They have amazing BBQ in addition to being pretty awesome people. On Saturday, we’ll open the doors at noon. Come in and enjoy a few pints with some friends. Feel free to bring in some food, or much on some OH! chips. My Little Kitchen Mobile Cuisine will be out front at 4pm. We’re also at the Brew Ohio Beer Fest at the Beverage Source Saturday night from 6-9pm. So, go hang out at Trek, then head over to the Beverage Source to sample beers from all over Ohio, and finally circle back to Trek for one final pint. A nice little Saturday.
We’ll look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Cheers!
