Ok so we started this thing last week. And the first week was awesome. And we’re going to keep it going. For the ENTIRE winter. And, we want YOU to be a part of it. Want to know more? Good, because I’m going to tell you now.

Last week was the first week of the Stand Up Showdown. We partnered with Weathervane Playhouse this winter to bring you the search for Ohio’s funniest person. It’s structured sort of like the show Last Comic Standing. Three winners each week will advance to a monthly battle round. These monthly battle rounds will determine who secures each of the ten spots on the Weathervane stage for the final Stand Up Showdown on April 18th. The winner gets both bragging rights AND a $500 cash Grand Prize.

One of the most awesome things about this happening on Thursdays is that it happens in conjunction with our Trek Together nights. We’re able to raise more funds for more projects in our community. We feel like it’s the ultimate Thursday night. You get to drink good beer, laugh a lot, and do good in the community. It’s a definite karma boon.

Are you funny? Do you know someone who is? You can sign up weekly for your five minutes of fame. We’d like to encourage anyone and everyone to take a shot!

DETAILS:

WHERE: Trek Brewing 1486 Granville Rd. Newark, OH 43055

WHEN: 7 – 9PM Thursdays,  January 9 – April 2. Sign-ups begin at 6:45, and are on a first-come first-serve basis.

WHO: All comics welcome. Each evening will be hosted by Nick “Pyro” Sensabaugh. Weekly rounds will be judged by our audience. Monthly Battle Rounds and the Final Stand Up Showdown will feature guest judges.

Please note: While Trek Brewing is a family-friendly brewery and audience members and comics of all ages are welcome and encouraged, there may be content or language during the course of each stand-up act that isn’t appropriate for all ages.

WHAT: All comedic styles are welcome: parody, stand-up, sketch comedy, etc. Each comic will receive a 5-minute slot in our weekly Stand Up rounds.

WHY: Because laughter IS the best medicine. Plus, Thursdays are also Trek Together nights at Trek Brewing, with $1.00 of each beer purchased donated to a local charitable organization. Laughter, beer and helping others!

April 18th: Final Stand Up Showdown at Weathervane Playhouse.
