Columbus Craft Beer Week

Oh hey there friends! It’s Thursday again! And it’s not just any Thursday, it’s the Thursday before Columbus Craft Beer Week. What does that mean? Well friends, read on.

Columbus (and the greater surrounding area) is home to more than 60 incredible craft breweries. Most of us have opened within the last 5 years. This area has just exploded into the beer scene, making Columbus a beer destination. To celebrate this fact, and all the amazing breweries, there’s a week planned full of special events.

Craft beer week runs how we wish every week started: Friday to Saturday. It’s not like a regular week, craft beer week is a cool week. There’s too much awesomeness to pack into 7 days, so instead, we went for 8. We’re kicking off Friday night with Poppy’s Roadside Diner. If you’ve had Poppy’s you know that everything you get is DELICIOUS. My personal fave is the Reuben, but I’ve never had anything short of amazing from the truck. You can’t make a bad choice. If you haven’t had Poppy’s… you should get yourself to Trek on Friday.

Poppy’s Roadside Diner Donut Burger. Yep… Donut Burger. Don’t miss out.

Saturday is the day of festivals. We’ll start with the awesomeness happening at Trek. Star City Sliders will be hanging out with us. I swear to goodness that these are for sure the best sliders in Ohio, and I’m prepared to say that they might be the best in the world. Go for the Sophie’s slider. It’s a pierogi on a burger and it is incredible. Actually, just try any of the sliders. They are all amazing.

Bryon is one of my all time favorite humans, and his sliders are legendary!

Trek will be at the Six One Pour festival in Columbus. “The event takes place inside the home of the Columbus’ Center of Science & Industry (COSI). All of the breweries will be located inside, so we’re pouring beer rain or shine!

50 Ohio craft breweries will be on hand pouring samples of their standout brews. There will also be live music and food selections incorporating local craft beers.” The event takes place from 6pm to 9pm and general admission tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. You can find out more info here. John will be there for a little while, and our good friends Katie and Russ are pouring for us. Go say hi!

Also on Saturday is the Brew Ohio Beerfest at the Beverage Source. This event is “The best of Ohio brewing! Brew Ohio, Saturday, May 18, 2019, 6 – 9 p.m. at the Beverage Source in Newark, OH. VIP doors open at 5 p.m. with special keg tappings from a few of our brewers! Funds raised benefit the Newark-Heath Rotary Club, in support of local and international projects. Standard Tickets $30 in advance, $35 at the door.” You can get more info about Brew Ohio Beerfest here. Elizabeth will be hanging out at this festival, so if you’ve missed her as much as we have, so see her there! The awesome thing about Brew Ohio is that it is SO CLOSE to Trek. You can go there, hang out and taste all the beers, then come to Trek for Star City Sliders and the best beer around! Win-Win!

Finally, the Columbus Ale Trail Volume 5 kicks off this week. Come get your passport stamped at Trek! We’ll have the new passports available on Friday. This year’s book has 46 breweries, and the swag is SWEET. “Your first four stamps will earn an Ale Trail glass. Visit 23 sites for a custom Ale Trail bottle opener. For those that get stamped at all 46 locations, a limited edition Columbus Ale Trail art print by Nick Nocera will be waiting at the end of your journey.”

We’ve got more exciting things coming up, so stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates. You can check out all the other great Columbus Craft Beer Week Events happening here.

Cheers friends. We’ll see you from across the bar. It’s #WorthTheTrek.
